Don Erickson was a Buffalo Bisons Pitcher and he lived with us in the Kensington-Eggert area of Buffalo during the 1959- 60 season.

The Bisons were in first place near the end of the home season that year.  My Dad and I were at the game in Offerman Stadium and Don Erickson was the starting pitcher against Babe Birrer, who was with Montreal if I remember correctly.

The game was zero-to-zero as Buffalo batted in the bottom of the ninth inning. Bill Taylor was up and hit a blast to right field that hit the top of the wall and bounced out of the park. With that 1-0 win, Buffalo cinched the Pennant and Erickson got the decision.

It was one of the greatest sports experiences of my life as I was eleven years old and am now 74.  I kept in contact with Don through most of my years and sadly must say he passed away a few years ago.

An unforgettable remembrance.—Bill K.
