My favorite baseball memory happened at the “Rockpile” when the Buffalo Bisons were a
AA Ball farm club of the Pirates circa 1981.
After a few libations my buddies and I rose for the 7th inning stretch. Spontaneously, we began singing,“God Bless America,” which wasn’t being sung at games then.
The infielders stopped tossing the ball around, doffed their caps and placed them over their hearts.—Frank S.
